“The Only Lie”

A young boy named Eli goes the wrong way by lying about a test that he took in order to get into a boarding school. The one lie can take people many places but it doesn’t take Eli to lots of places. “The Lie” by Kurt Vonnegut is a tale of comedy and comedy’s purpose is to solve problems.
To begin with, the first point on the comedy’s plotline is a normal everyday life and that is when Eli spends the time with family and going to school. Next point is conflict arises, when he takes the test. The conflict is realized by the main character, the third point when he lied to his parents about the test. The resolution occurs when Eli’s dad doesn’t really mind about him lying and is trying to bribe the school. Then it is back to everyday life when he doesn’t get into the boarding school.
In addition to the story are symbolizes and thoughs symbols are what make the story more interesting the first symbol is the test and the test symbolizes what starts the lie. The school symbolizes the test and the lie.
Another interesting feature of this story are the characters. The main character is Eli. He is 13 to 14 years old, going into high school. He has a mother and a father. He is trying to get into a school. So Eli does a bad example of lying to his parents.
The problem was that Eli lied about how he failed the test to get into a school. His parents caught him lying so his dad got angry but he was bribing for him son to get into the school.
