Does Patriotism Still Matter?

Patriotism is love of country and willingness to sacrifice for it.  Does patriotism matter today? Yes, patriotism still matters today. We all need to help one another in order to create and maintain a strong country.                                                                    To begin with, when the 9/11 attack occurred the terrorists destroyed the Twin Tower sand 300,000 lives. People showed their patriotism in rescuing the survivors and helping to clean and take care of the mess. Patriotism does matter today, because if something happened again to the country, of course, somebody would have to take care of it.                                                                                            Patriotism occurs in many different ways. If someone joins the Army, that person is being patriotic. The Army cares for and supports the country and the men and women sacrifice their lives for this country that we live in.  The same is true of the Marines and Navy.                                                                                                                  In addition to this, each person who is an American citizen can demonstrate patriotism in several ways.  First of all, a person who would be a firefighter or police man are heroes. A hero is a person who not only cares for their country, but they also fight for it to protect others. I have a hero; my hero is my uncle who is a police officer. He is my hero because he fights to save people’s lives every day and he is fighting to stop crime, drug abuse, and to save our country.
Imagine waking up every day, walking out the door, and being ready for anything to come at you and having to risk your life at any moment. Now imagine walking out of your house smelling the fresh air and being glad that you live in a good place that’s safe and you know you can’t get hurt. All I say is that you should be happy that you aren’t in a bad place where you don’t know people and you have to wear at least 3lbs of armor to protect you.  Be thankful for what you have and respect those that are protecting you.
